The longest serving university president in Canadian history, he has made an outstanding contribution to education. Now in an unprecedented fourth term at Saint Mary's University, he was a driving force behind the Halifax Universities Consortium proposal. He helped launch a new era of inter-university cooperation which has saved the province millions of dollars in operating costs. A champion for the rights of students with disabilities, he has fostered an integrated community built upon innovative partnerships and consensus. In addition to his academic work, he gives tirelessly of his time to the betterment of his community, his province and his country.
