A record-holding twenty-two-time winner at the Calgary Stampede, he played a major role in the development of rodeo as a professional sport in Canada, involving himself in every aspect, from competitor to judge. The founder of what is now known as the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, he is fondly known in Alberta as "The King of the Cowboys."
