He has dedicated his entire career to alcohol and drug rehabilitation. The first counsellor on alcoholism in Saskatchewan, he started his ground-breaking research and public education work in an era when substance abuse and addictions were not understood by society. He has raised public awareness dramatically, and has worked to establish programs in corrections, Aboriginal organizations, health, education and industry. He founded the Saskatoon Alcoholism Society, where his work enabled the province to lead the way in the establishment of Canadian intervention and recovery programs.
