He has devoted his entire career to the biological control of noxious weeds. Working out of research stations located in Western Canada, he has developed a non-polluting, low-cost and environmentally-friendly alternative to chemical weed control. By employing non-chemical agents such as insects, the forage production has been increased in infested pastures worldwide. He has shared this research freely and has become an international authority on the subject, contributing substantially to our knowledge of weed pests and encouraging biologists to seek out new solutions to age-old problems.
