During his fifty-year career, he served his country as a lawyer, soldier, community leader and municipal and provincial politician, ultimately serving as Deputy Premier of Manitoba. He was also instrumental in establishing the Security Intelligence Review Committee in 1984, to which he made a significant contribution until his retirement in 1992.
