Professor emeritus of paediatrics and pathology at McMaster University, where she directed a model laboratory for more than twenty years, she has helped set high standards for cytogenetic laboratory diagnostic services in Canada. Her research on radiation and human chromosome abnormalities has made a notable contribution to medical science.
