Former Lieutenant-Governor of Prince Edward Island, he has also provided distinguished service as founding president and current vice-president of the Acadian Museum Association, through which he has helped preserve Acadian history, culture and heritage. In addition, his work as a school trustee and member of the Charlottetown interim board has contributed to the establishment of the Francophone school-community centre, le Carrefour de l'Isle de Saint-Jean.
