For his contributions to jurisprudence as a judge and scholar. Allen Linden has been a major force in the legal community for half a century. A long-time professor at Osgoode Hall, he played a decisive role in transforming Canadian tort law into a tool capable of helping the wronged in their struggle for justice. He was elevated from academia to the bench of the Supreme Court of Ontario and later, as its president, guided the Law Reform Commission of Canada through a contentious period in our legal history. After over 30 years on the bench, he retired with great distinction from the Federal Court of Appeal and continues to be an active contributor to jurisprudence through his teaching, lecturing, writing and arbitrating.
