Officer of the Order of Canada
- Awarded on: November 14, 1996
- Invested on: February 26, 1997
A corporate leader, he has remained deeply committed to his vision of building strong Canadian-based companies. He has translated his business success into patronage of the arts, charities, and hospitals and universities in Montreal and Toronto. All of this he has done quietly, without regard for personal recognition. While many large institutions have benefited from his generosity, his focus on smaller agencies has ensured the survival of a wide range of services, including a drop-in centre for homeless people, a summer camp for inner city children, a centre for teenagers and their babies, and many others.
