He is a leading authority on the crystallography of metals, whose research data and theories are used by metallurgists, chemists, physicists and mechanical engineers around the world. A former Dean of Science at the University of Waterloo, he has had a tremendous influence on thousands of students and is a respected mentor to his scientific colleagues.
