A prospector by profession, he played a key role in staking claims that led to the the discovery of one of the largest mineral deposits in Northern Ontario, and three of the richest gold mines in Canada. These mines have not only created employment for thousands of people, but have also indirectly helped finance the building of schools, hospitals and infrastructures in the North. He is also a strong advocate for the environment and for the efficient use of natural resources.
