Dean of Medicine at Dalhousie University and Director of its Multiple Sclerosis Research Unit, he is widely respected as a teacher, administrator, neurologist and researcher. He has contributed to his profession in an outstanding manner as an executive member of numerous national and international medical bodies, having been the first Canadian appointed to the prestigious chair of the Board of Governors of the American College of Physicians.
