One of Canada's most prominent physician-scientists, he was one of the first to postulate that environmental factors might play a role int he development of Alzheimer's Dementia. His pioneering efforts have culminated in the creation of the University of Toronto's Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases which is devoted to the multi-disciplinary study of these diseases.
