A long-time member of British Columbia's Legislative Assembly, she contributed to the success of a wide variety of projects. This woman of vision achieved a number of firsts in her career, including her role as the first female president of a Chamber of Commerce in Canada and in establishing Canada's first "Help Line" for abused children. Now retired from politics, she continues to be active in a number of volunteer endeavours.
