Dedicated to improving the quality of life for her fellow citizens, she has been involved in community planning and health care for many years, notably as a Vancouver city councillor. She was the first executive director of the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia and a member of the provincial royal commission on health care and costs. She has also contributed her expertise and knowledge to several educational and social groups and organizations.
