Without fanfare or publicity for himself, he has given Canadians one of the most beautiful gardens on earth, accessible to all and a showpiece of which to be proud. The world-famous Butchart Gardens have brought pleasure and enchantment to the lives of millions of visitors for many years, thanks to his dedicated stewardship. An exemplary host, he is, nonetheless, a very private person, and a generous and anonymous benefactor of a host of cultural, educational and charitable organizations.
