His service as a physician has extended beyond Portage La Prairie to the global community. He has presided over both the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the World Organization of Family Doctors and is associated with a number of foreign health organizations. He is also Chancellor of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in Canada.
