For many years he has given distinguished leadership to agricultural education as a researcher, teacher and administrator. As Principal, he guided the Nova Scotia Agricultural College to its position as a full-fledged degree-granting institution, serving all of Atlantic Canada, and whose graduates are of benefit to governments, agribusiness and universities. He continues to serve his profession as Chairman of the Canadian Agricultural Research Council.
