An active organizer and patron of several charities and foundations, he has raised millions of dollars annually as the founder and chair of the President's Committee of the University of Toronto, and is responsible for one of the largest fundraising campaigns ever, for St. Joseph's Hospital. He is also Chair of the Toronto Economic Advisory Committee, one of the many task forces, academic, government and industrial committees on which he serves.
