Physician, clinician, scientist and professor, he has made important contributions to haematology and oncology, as well as to medical education, research and administration. He helped establish the Manitoba Health Research Council and enhanced the reputation of the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology, one of the foremost cancer research facilities in the country.
