An early activist in the labour movement, he has worked with many groups across the nation, particularly in Toronto, to ensure that the rights of all members of society are protected and enhanced through legislation and government policies and practices. He has been an articulate and respected spokesperson for the Black community and has contributed greatly to Canada's multicultural character.
