One of the originators of the "friendship centre" concept, she has been a long-time member of the Native Women's Group and is current President of the Indian & Metis Senior Citizen's Group of Winnipeg. Despite the tremendous barriers, lack of free time and stable resources available to Native volunteers, she has served as general impetus, motivator and coordinator, fundraiser and hands-on worker for any group or project designed to help Native Canadians adjust to city life.
