Professor Emeritus of Oceanography at McGill University, this highly acclaimed scientist has played a major role in the development of polar science in Canada and abroad, including the study of the biogeography of marine organisms, climatic change and marine ecosystems. As McGill's chief advisor and delegate for the Circumpolar Research Network, he is involved in the planning of an international co-operative program to study open northern waters.
