Single-handedly he built a small sawmill operation into the largest privately owned and operated lumber manufacturing company on the West Coast. His business success led him to endow two graduate fellowships in forestry at the University of British Columbia as well as a chair in language and culture of the Indian sub-continent. He is a generous and enthusiastic supporter of many health, educational and multicultural endeavours in his community.
