A distinguished orthodontist and educator, he is dedicated to the academic, social and cultural life of Winnipeg, particularly the Ukrainian community. He has been active in a number of organizations, having served as Assistant Professor of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba, provincial and national President of the Association of Orthodontists and National Chairman of the Canadian Multiculturalism Council.
