Walter Ostrom is a ceramic artist who has been an influential figure in his field for more than 35 years. An expert in low-fired tin-glazed earthenware, he has revived and modernized this ceramic art form in Canada and abroad. His unique, innovative and visually striking art has been featured in collections and exhibitions worldwide, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Victoria and Albert Museum in England. Renowned for his generosity and nurturing spirit as a professor at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, he has been a beloved teacher and mentor to generations of emerging artists.
