Known as "Mr. Conservation" long before nature conservation gained its present popular appeal, he has literally devoted his life to the preservation and improvement of natural sites important to Canada's environmental heritage. As the result of his years of work through such organizations as the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the Nature Conservancy of Canada, protected natural areas across Canada are available for the scientific study, enjoyment and recreation of all.
