He demonstrated outstanding leadership, imagination and commitment to the social service field and brought great credit to Canada during his years as General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council of Y.M.C.A. of Canada. More recently, as Chairman of the Coalition of National Voluntary Organizations he succeeded in raising the status and profile of the voluntary sector to a level equal to that of government, business and labour.
