He continues to be a figure of national significance in public policy issues since retiring from an outstanding career as a public servant. Chair of the Board of Canadian Policy Research Networks, he applies his leadership skills and expertise to a broad array of organizations, including the Canadian Centre for Management Development. A trusted advisor to government and the private sector, he has also at times acted as a spokesperson for the public service in public debates. Since 1993, he has been Chancellor of Carleton University, where the new college of public affairs bears his name.
