A first-rate musician, stage director, administrator and teacher, currently Director of Operations for the Canadian Opera Company, he has contributed significantly to the performing arts, especially opera, in Canada. He is best-known, however, as the inventor of "Surtitles", a widely- acclaimed method of projecting condensed translations of foreign-language operas onto screens above the stages in opera houses, thus permitting unilingual music lovers to understand the words of the world's greatest operas.
