He is one of Canada's best known sportscasters. Johnny Esaw gave us first-class coverage of numerous Olympic Games, figure skating championships and CFL games. Widely acknowledged as Canada's ambassador of amateur sports, he served as chairman of the Air Canada Amateur Sports Awards for 21 years. Also known as "Mr. Figure Skating," he was instrumental in promoting and raising the profile of the sport at home and abroad. For his outstanding contributions, he has been inducted into several sports halls of fame.
