Hunter, seamstress and storyteller par excellence, great-grandmother, artist and printmaker, whose more than three thousand drawings have brought renown to her native Holman Island in the Northwest Territories. A member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Kalvak and her skills have been the subject of two films. In recognition not only of her extraordinary ability as an artist, but of the inspiration she has given, and continues to give in spite of severe illness, to her fellow artists in the North.
