He has dedicated his career as a surgeon, clinician and researcher to improving the techniques for early detection and treatment of breast cancer. Director Emeritus of St. Michael's Hospital Breast Screening Clinic, he has been instrumental in the development of the provincial screening program and the standards of patient care. He has been involved in clinical trials evaluating new approaches to treatment and is currently comparing the effectiveness of specific drugs in reducing the incidence of the disease.
