He is one of Canada's foremost humorists. A three-time winner of the prestigious Stephen Leacock Medal, he is a prolific writer with more than 30 books to his credit. He is also a well-known and popular playwright in western Canada, specializing in comedies and children's plays. His columns for The Vancouver Province, which ran for almost 50 years, broke new ground as they used humour to address such serious issues as capital punishment, racism and the importance of the performing arts.
