James Horsman's service to the community has been sustained and wide-reaching. A dynamic politician and volunteer, he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 1975. Over the course of the next two decades, he steadfastly represented his constituents' interests. After leaving public office, he has remained an important presence in the community. Dedicated to building a strong public education system, he is a staunch supporter of Medicine Hat College, where he served as chair of their board of governors. As chancellor of the University of Lethbridge, he made great strides in fostering harmonious partnerships between students, faculty and the community.
