A respected teacher, she has helped to shape education in her province for nearly 60 years. A pioneer in many of her roles, she was the first full-time President of the Winnipeg Teachers' Association and a Founding Member of the Manitoba Research Council. Especially involved in promoting the role of women in education, she chaired the first Status of Women Committee of the Manitoba Teachers' Society. Also devoted to the larger community, she is a longtime supporter of arts and culture, in particular the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and School, as well as social service institutions, including the United Nations Association in Canada.
