A businessman, Raymond Poirier has been devoting himself to the development of Canada's Francophonie for more than 25 years. As chair of the Société franco-manitobaine, he contributed to the launching of several important initiatives, including the Fédération des francophones hors Québec. On a voluntary basis, he also channelled his creativity and enthusiasm toward the creation of the Commission nationale des parents francophones and promoted exchanges among francophone business people across the country. The former president of the Manitoba Association of Bilingual Municipalities, he continues to promote cultural initiatives and economic development in his province and across the country.
