His imprint can be found on many important segments of Canadian society. As the head of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), he established housing programs for modest-income families. Of equal importance is his service at the helm of the Insurance Bureau of Canada. In concert with government, he helped to develop strategic responses to enhance our ability to withstand and recover from natural disasters and catastrophic events. He also worked tirelessly to introduce a graduated licensing system for novice drivers that reduces the loss of life and injury resulting from collisions.
