As one of New Brunswick's most esteemed lawyers and jurists, William Hoyt has been a leading figure in the provincial judicial system for over 45 years. Renowned for his integrity, intelligence and compassion, he rose through the ranks of the judiciary and served as chief justice of New Brunswick. In 1998, he was called upon by the British Government to join the inquiry into the events surrounding Bloody Sunday in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In this role, he has brought his vast legal experience as well as his personal commitment to the peace process, enhancing both Canada's role and reputation on the international stage.
