Charles Baillie began his career with the Toronto-Dominion Bank in 1964 and retired as CEO in 2002 and as chairman in 2003. In addition to his regular responsibilities, he guided the sponsorship activities of this financial institution in communities throughout Canada. He is also recognized as an inspirational philanthropist who has advanced the arts, education, protection of the environment and the welfare of those less fortunate. Notably, he has generously supported the Soulpepper Theatre Company and the Art Gallery of Ontario and has been the driving force behind the fundraising efforts of various organizations such as the Shaw Festival, the Orillia Museum of Art and History, and Nature Conservancy Canada. Now chancellor at Queen's University, he champions the institution at the provincial and national levels and continues to demonstrate an outstanding dedication to his community and his country.
