She achieved a lifelong dream of pursuing a career as a geologist in spite of early limitations on women entering the profession. Due to her talent and perseverance, she went on to work as a senior geologist at one of Canada's major oil exploration companies and became the first woman to serve as President of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists. She continues to take part in programs aimed at encouraging young women to pursue careers in non-traditional fields.
