Gerald Barr has demonstrated a strong commitment to community issues and humanitarian causes. Throughout his 30 years in the labour movement as a local and national representative, he has led, and contributed to, many initiatives, including the Steelworkers Humanity Fund, which was created in response to the Ethiopian famine crisis. Respected for his inspired and inspiring leadership, he has served on many boards, notably those of the North-South Institute and the Canadian Council for International Co operation. Today, as the Council's president and chief executive officer, he continues to foster sustainable human development.
