Former Chief Justice of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, he is known as an effective conciliator. His extensive knowledge of labour law, coupled with his ability to achieve consensus through consultation, made him a powerful force for conflict resolution. He gives generously of his time to many worthwhile organizations, including Dalhousie University and the Public Legal Education Society. His ability to draw people together has also been reflected in his role as Chair of the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial Secretariat. Through his dedicated service, he has raised the benchmark for others. (2)
