With vision, passion and perseverance, Judith Mappin has played a major role in the promotion and development of Canadian literature. In the 1970s, she opened the Double Hook Book Shop, a store that was entirely devoted to Canadian authors. For more than 30 years, she supported the growth of modern Canadian literature, and championed emerging and established writers by hosting book launches, signings and readings. Her cultural involvement has also reached into the community, where she has supported and given her time to libraries and literary associations.
