She has made valuable contributions to the community of Sault Ste. Marie, especially in the arts, health services and education. The first woman member of the Board of Governors of Cambrian College, later of The Sault College and a former member of the Ontario Council of Regents, she has also fostered and nurtured the Algoma Fall Festival and a variety of community service organizations.
