Born in Hull, Quebec, he was one of Canada's aviation pioneers, boldly and courageously participating in the development of air transport in the Canadian North and West. During the Second World War, he created a network of landing strips and air routes that enabled allied aircraft to reach England with stop-overs in Canada's North.
