  In the course of a business career in Winnipeg, he has headed enterprises in electronics, retail merchandising and petroleum. But an involvement in the arts, dating back to his early years when he performed in theatre and dance, inspired his efforts on behalf of the Manitoba Theatre Centre. His other interests include the Winnipeg Clinic Research Institute, the Thorlakson Research Foundation, the Metric Commission and the University of Manitoba.
