During his thirty years of hospital work, this Jesuit founded a variety of hospital associations, schools of hospital administration, including the first French-language institution in America, and the only French-language journal in North America in this field. He then turned to promoting French language and culture outside Quebec as defender of the Franco-Ontarian cause and manager of the newspaper Le Voyageur.
