After some twenty years' teaching at the University of Alberta, during which he rose to Dean of Engineering, Dr. Govier served for sixteen years as chairman of Alberta's Resources Conservation Board. In 1975 he became his province's chief deputy minister of Energy and Natural Resources. An authority in this area, he has written many papers and has been much in demand on national and international bodies. (This is a promotion within the Order).
