Along with his work as physician, lecturer at McGill and advocate for his profession, Victor Goldbloom has contributed much to the political and cultural life of Quebec. First elected to the Assembly in 1966, he became his province's first Minister of the Environment, and first member of the Jewish community to occupy a cabinet post. After holding other portfolios - Municipal Affairs and Olympic Games Installations - he became president in turn of the National and International Councils of Christians and Jews.
